The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) witnessed a momentous event as it hosted the inaugural celebration of National Science Day. This event was organized by collaboration of Society of Young Scientist AIIMS and Indraprasth Vigyan BhartiDistinguished guests, eminent scientists, and medical professionals gathered to commemorate this significant occasion. The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Dr. G. K. Rath, Keynote Speaker Dr. Manish Tripthi along with Director of SEHAK Dr. K. P. Sinha and Director of AIIMS Dr. M. Sriniwas. Let’s delve into the highlights of this remarkable day.


Chief Guest: Dr. G. K. Rath, Founder of NCI Jhajjar

Dr. G. K. Rath, renowned oncologist and founder of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Jhajjar, graced the event as the chief guest. His address emphasized the critical importance of cancer awareness. Dr. Rath highlighted that tobacco consumption remains the primary cause of oral cancer. He urged everyone to abstain from tobacco in any form. Furthermore, he emphasized that prevention and treatment of cancer are feasible goals. Of particular significance was Dr. Rath's emphasis on cervix cancer prevention for young women. He advocated for widespread vaccination, emphasizing that it significantly reduces the risk of cancer after administration.



Keynote Speaker: Dr. Tripathi from South Texas, USA

Dr. Manish Tripathi (Assistant Professor at the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), Member of the South Texas Center of Excellence in Cancer Research (STCECR), and Vice President CCAC subcommittee, UTRGV SOM) delivered an enlightening presentation on the link between stress and cancer. Using captivating slides, he shared 20 years of research experience in transcriptional regulation, cancer biology and protein biochemistry. He shared insights from his groundbreaking research on Cancer and its Working Mechanism. Stress management, he asserted, plays a pivotal role in cancer prevention.



Tribute to Dr. C. V. Raman and the Raman Effect

In his closing remarks, Dr. M. Sriniwas, Director of Delhi AIIMS, paid homage to the eminent physicist Dr. C. V. Raman. On this very day in 1980, Dr. Raman’s groundbreaking discovery—the Raman Effect—was recognized with the Nobel Prize. National Science Day serves as a tribute to this remarkable achievement. Dr. Sriniwas encouraged all scientists and researchers to aspire to such heights, setting their sights on the coveted Nobel Prize.

SEHAK’s Pioneering Efforts in Pain Management

The event concluded with a panel discussion led by Dr. G. K. Rath, Dr. Tripathi, and Dr. Ashok Sharma (Head of AIIMS, Biochemistry Department). They engaged in a candid conversation with SEHAK’s Director, Dr. K. P. Sinha, and his team. Dr. Prabhat Kumar Sinha (Deputy Director, SEHAK) and Dr. Abhishek Kumar Sinha (Scientific Advisor, SEHAK) discussed breakthroughs in pain management for cancer patients. Notably, they introduced “Gangrenol Forte® a novel solution that has brought relief to countless sufferers. The panel also shared heartwarming stories of patients who have benefited from this innovative approach.


Dr. Tripathi’s Global Perspective

Dr. Tripathi, visiting from the United States, commended SEHAK’s efforts. He underscored the global relevance of their work and explained the scientific basis behind their discoveries. His presence added an international dimension to the event, inspiring collaboration and knowledge exchange.
